محمد خوانساری، مدیر طرح لینوکس ملی از آماده شدن خروجی‌های این طرح برای استفاده عموم و شرکت‌ها و سازمان‌ها خبر داد.

لینوکس ملی برخلاف تصور رایجی که وجود دارد، یک دیسک نیست و شامل پروژه‌هایی برای فارسی‌سازی لینوکس و استفاده از زبان فارسی و در نرم‌افزارهای متن‌باز است.
وی بیان داشت که محصول لینوکس با کاربری فوق‌العاده و امنیت بالا تنها کمتر از ده درصد کشور را پوشش داده است و نیازمند حمایت‌های دولتی است و دولت باید فضای مناسب و انگیزه‌های لازم را برای استفاده از‌ این سیستم‌ عامل‌ ایجاد کند.
